Hydro-Excavation and Air Knifing

Hydro-Excavation
and Air Knifing

Absolute can vacuum soils and debris up to 8 inches in areas inaccessible by traditional heavy equipment.

The unique characteristics of the Hydro-Excavation and Air-Knifing are achieved on sites where:
  • Technology replaces a traditional excavator and dump truck into one unit that can be staged outside of the excavation area.
  • Access is restricted for traditional heavy equipment.
  • Underground utilities are in close proximity, or within the excavation.
  • There is need to minimize site disturbance and/or excavation size.
  • Underground Pre-Clearing for Drilling and Excavation.
  • Vacuum Units are permitted for Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Applications.
  • Absolute can vacuum soils and debris up to 8 inches in areas inaccessible by traditional heavy equipment.
Hydro-Excavation is a non-mechanical and non-destructive process with combines pressurized water and a high flow of moving air to simultaneously excavate and evacuate native soils at a controlled rate. The soil and water slurry is conveyed via an 8" tube to a 16 cubic yard truck-mounted debris tank.

Air Knifing is a non-mechanical and non-destructive process that uses high pressure air coupled with our vacuum truck to excavate and evacuate soils.
Both processes allow for quick, clean, and precise excavations which require less backfill, less labor force, less restoration, and less environmental impact than conventional methods. A controlled stream of water or air allows for surgeon-like accuracy.
While removing only the material necessary for your work, an efficiency is gained on excavation time and subsequent backfill and restoration when compared to large, less-than-accurate excavator or backhoe buckets. This process will not damage sensitive buried infrastructure. Our trucks dump like traditional dump trucks and carry on-board water.
Proper excavating activity around underground utilities require that you must first expose the line to visually verify its precise depth and location. In some states you must hand dig before power digging in the tolerance zone around marked utilities. In some states, only hand digging or other non-intrusive methods are allowed in the tolerance zone.

Ask yourself

Did I budget for hand-excavation or an underground repair in my project budget?
Is there a safer way?

The only equipment needed at the actual excavation is the vacuum hose and wand for either water or air.
